Mondrian: A Wearable Art Collection

A Tribute to Bauhaus and Piet Mondrian

Diana Sokolic's jewelry line pays homage to great masters, with the Mondrian collection celebrating the 100 years of Bauhaus.

Designer Diana Sokolic has created a stunning jewelry collection inspired by the iconic works of Dutch painter Piet Mondrian. The Mondrian collection is a part of Sokolic's larger "hommage" collection, which pays tribute to famous painters and their works, including Bol, Calder, Klee, Van Gogh, Matisse, Miro, and Renoir. With her background in painting, Sokolic brings art to life through wearable art.

The Mondrian collection features brooches, pendants, and necklaces, both short and long. Each piece is made using laser-cut acrylic plates, rubber, and silver tone chain. The choice of materials allows for vibrant and vivid colors, capturing the essence of Mondrian's iconic compositions.

These statement pieces are intended for bold individuals, both women and men, who appreciate the fusion of art and fashion. The collection showcases Sokolic's ability to transform famous paintings into wearable art, giving them a new dimension without diminishing the original artistic work's value.

The necklaces in the Mondrian collection come in two variations. The short necklaces are made of rubber with magnetic clasps, providing a comfortable and secure fit. The long necklaces feature thin silver tone links that connect the acrylic pieces, with a lobster clasp closing the necklace. The brooches are equipped with 40 mm pins on the back, allowing for easy attachment to clothing or accessories.

Sokolic's journey to create the Mondrian collection involved extensive research and experimentation. She meticulously measured the colored surfaces and their relationships to the black stripes in Mondrian's paintings. By thinking "out of the box," she found the perfect proportions to translate Mondrian's shapes into jewelry.

The Mondrian collection is the culmination of years of improvement and refinement. Sokolic's dedication to capturing the essence of Mondrian's work in wearable art is evident in every piece. The final version of the collection was completed over the course of four months, showcasing Sokolic's attention to detail and commitment to excellence.

Recognized for its exceptional design and innovation, the Mondrian collection was awarded the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design category in 2019. This award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. Sokolic's collection stands out for its integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, providing fulfillment and positive feelings to its wearers.

The Mondrian collection is a testament to the enduring influence of Bauhaus and the timeless appeal of Piet Mondrian's art. Through her jewelry, Diana Sokolic brings art into our everyday lives, allowing us to carry a piece of artistic history with us wherever we go.
